NOTES from Wednesday Rehearsal

From Mr. Peerenboom:

Into the Woods: March 7

Act 1
Prologue: all in all sounding good, but check your notes
Baker and wife: review the “the spell is on my house” section
Baker: much better with your reaction to the cloak
Wolf/Little Red: better but we can still position the wolf so that it’s even more believable that the people are going into/coming out of his stomach
Bakers Wife: you don’t have to wait until you’ve completely parked the cow before you ask Cinderella she’s OK
Baker’s wife: go after Cinderella a little bit more so you have more stage to cross to catch the cow. Tonight it looks like there’s no way you wouldn’t of been able to catch the cow.
First midnight people: make sure you’re articulating your lines.
Rapunzel ‘s prince: reminder— don’t scoop down on “agony”. You consistently let it slide down in pitch.
Witch and Rapunzel : you should end “stay with me” by the witch holding her daughter.
Witch: wait for your reveal until just before the end of that dramatic music.
Cinderella: what happened?
Why is there off-stage laughter during The act 1 finale? People are breaking character and that is not a privilege anyone has.

Act 2
Family: don’t forget your harmonies on “we’re so happy.”
Adriana: where are your blind glasses?
Baker: project
All who are in the into the woods sequence as the Houses go out, remember to review your music.
Jack: it sounded like you shouted “oh my God” as you left the stage. That can’t happen.
Good job following the narrator as the giant drops/kills her
All: careful of staring off-stage when someone misses an entrance. It lets the audience know something is wrong.
Baker’s wife: careful of standing at the bottom of the ramp as there’s no light on you when you do that. Also, when you die make sure you give the impression that you see the giant and she’s close by.
Baker: make sure you’re projecting “no one is alone”
Lights: don’t bring up the house until the cast is completely off stage.

ALL: Everyone needs to be watching Mr. Kays. He’s giving cues but you've got to be watching for it.
